Back in 1796 a very smart doctor named Samuel Hahnemann crated homeopathy.
Homeopathy is an alternative medicine based on the idea of like cures like. This is the principle that dis-ease can be cured buy a substance that produces similar symptoms in a healthy person. Hahnemann developed this medical practice through much research. He even tested this principle on himself using Peruvian bark which was used for malarial symptoms. As a healthy person he chose to ingest Peruvian bark to see what effect it would have on him. The symptoms he developed looked very similar to those of malaria. He then theorized that if you gave Peruvian bark to those with malaria the body would respond by curing those malarial symptoms.
This principle is like a gentle nudge to the body showing it where it needs to focus its healing attention. like to describe this phenomena using a snow day example.

When it snows and you go outside and build a snowman your hands will get very cold. When you come in and want to warm your hands you might run some hot water and try putting your hands in it. You will find that this is very painful because your body senses the heat as burning. If instead you place your hands in cool water your body feels the cool water and realizes that it needs to push some blood down to your hands to warm them up.
COLD HANDS + HOT WATER = COLDER HANDS
(the body is trying to protect you from burn and removes the warm blood)
COLD HANDS + COOL WATER = WARMER HANDS
(the body feels the cool and tries to fix it by bringing warm blood)
As a homeopath I believe that the body wants to be well. The use of homeopathic remedies can gently nudge the body to pay attention and remove those symptoms that are causing us dis-ease.
To quote Dr. Samuel Hanemann in Organon of the Medical Art he states:
1: The homeopath's highest and only calling the make the sick healthy, to cure, as it is called.
2: The highest ideal of cure is the rapid, gentle and permanent restoration of health; that is the lifting and annihilation of the disease in its entire extent in the shortest, most reliable, and least disadvantageous way..
Homeopathy has stood the test of time, politics, fear and great misunderstanding and yet it still continues to heal today.
Please ask questions about this medical art. I can't promise to know it all but I love sharing and it is a worthwhile pursuit to study and develop a deeper understanding of homeopathy.
